Dr. Antonio Pérez Onteniente, born in Torrevieja (Alicante), is Professor of Secondary Education specializing in Biology and Geology, currently playing his teaching in the “Serpis” Hitgh School in Valencia. The contributor of the MVHN since 1999 and the Zoology Department of the Faculty of Biology at the University of Valencia. He has published books and articles peer review mostly on taxonomy and ecology of oligochaeta as well as some about beetles. The oligochaeta collection is composed of about 4,300 specimens of earthworms preserved in formalin-ethanol. Presents several type specimens from species that Dr. Pérez Onteniente discovered during their research: Nicodrilus tetramammalis, N. carochensis, N. monticola, Eumenescolex proclitellatus and Zophoscolex albacetensis, some of them Valencian endemics. It also has a collection of beetles, consisting of approximately 9,000 specimens belonging to more than 2,100 species, mostly Iberian.
