Dr. Alberto Martínez-Ortí Director and Research Professor of the Museum Valencià d’Història Natural.
He works as Curator-Researcher of the MVHN since 1995, where performs the tasks of curator of historical-animal collections and as a taxonomist of molluscs. He has been also linked to the Zoology Department of the University of Valencia since 2007 to 2013 as Professor Associate. Currently in the Department of Pharmacy and pharmaceutical technology and Parasitologyin the Faculty of Pharmacy.
It also provides two postgraduate courses: “Pest Control” and classes in the Masters of “Parasitic Tropical Diseasesc” and “Pest Control”, all of them at the University of Valencia. Scientific-research member of the Human Parasitic Disease Unit, WHO-FAO reference center for fascioliasis and its mollusc vectors.
He has published nearly two hundred publications on taxonomy and conservation of terrestrial, freshwater and marine circunmediterranean molluscs.
At present he is member of the Board of Directors of Spanish Society of Malacology and molluscs advisor of the Environment Council of Valencia Region and the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
