Recently researchers from the Institut Valencià de Biodiversitat-Museu Valencià d’Història Natural of Alginet have discovered a large population of the threatened freshwater gastropod Bithynia tentaculata. This snail is considered extinct in recent studies in Valencian territory. This Valencian location is not indicated for protection reasons. In addition to the need to protect this location by environmental authorities, this population could be used to reintroduce some of its specimens in other Valencian locations where it had disappeared, mainly due to human action. This very important discovery will be transferred to the technicians of the Conselleria of Environment to study the future of this population and the species in our territory. Although this species is not threatened, the MVHN-i \ Biotaxa will urgently propose to include it in the protection lists and the realization of a specific Conservation Plan.
